Tomorrow, Tracy McGrady will be officially enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2017 class. McGrady’s illustrious career was highlighted by unstoppable scoring ability and dunking skills, but prior to being drafted his stock wasn’t nearly as high as you think. In fact, for the famed adidas ABCD basketball camp in 1996, less than one year before he was drafted by the Toronto Raptors, McGrady was given the very last invite to the camp and issued the number 175.
To celebrate McGrady’s enshrinement, adidas Hoops collaborated with artist Jon Moody to create custom T-MACs inspired by epic career moments from 2002 through 2005, a span where he was regarded as one of the best in the NBA. Check out the customs below as well as their inspirations.
T-MAC 1 (2002) – Commemorates T-Mac’s 46-point performance on Christmas Day against the Detroit Pistons with ‘46’ splash-painted in Roman numerals.
T-MAC 2 (2003) – Inspired by T-Mac’s 52-point show over the Chicago Bulls, embracing his fiery Artificial and explosive gameplay.
T-MAC 3 (2004) – Celebrates T-Mac’s 36-point display versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. The pure gold performance and motions of the game inspired the silhouette’s finishing touches.
T-MAC 5 (2005) – Takes design cues from T-Mac’s ability to rule the stat sheet and his performance against the Dallas Mavericks, where he recorded 37 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Each Match is uniquely designed to represent all sides to T-Mac’s game.
