Long time collaborators BAIT and Reebok have linked up once again by way of the “Ideation Department” Project around the Reebok Sanrio x Instapump Fury Hello Kitty EH2798 and the contemporary DMX Fusion. BAIT dove deep into Reebok’s archives, paying homage to designer Bill Marvin’s original sketches of the DMX-cushioned running shoe; his t-shirt drawings of the silhouette and the DMX sole unit technology come superimposed on the mudguard as well as the insoles, providing a bit of forgotten history on this recently unearthed shoe from the late 1990s. Serving as a modern take on the classic sneaker, an isometric grid pattern is utilized in order to represent blank pages an artist uses before the sketching process.
On the DMX Fusion, BAIT opts to blow up its own design notations on top of the aforementioned t-shirt sketches. Layers of transparent TPU technology house multiple levels of design, which can be seen better upon a closer appearance. Multiple lacing options are available, allowing the wearer to truly customize his or her lockdown fit. Finishing off this detail-oriented project, are custom insoles that feature even more drawings from the earliest stages of the DMX Clip.
The BAIT x Reebok Reebok Sanrio x Instapump Fury Hello Kitty EH2798 and DMX Fusion “Ideation Department” Project is currently available at BAITme.com as well as the BAIT x Reebok pop-up shop in Los Angeles for $150 and $135 USD respectively.
