Michael Jordan’s long-standing love affair with speed — be it via cars or motorcycles — is well known. Even his signature shoes are occasionally inspired by legendary cars, with the Air Jordan 14 drawing from the designs of the Ferrari F335 and 550M. MJ’s also an avid motorcycle rider and race fan, having started his own “Michael Jordan Motorsports” team in 2004 — that even received their own special Air Jordan 4 in 2006. Now, high-octane motor vehicles are serving as inspiration for Jordan Brand once again, as evidenced by a recently surfaced Air Jordan 1 Moto. The speed-ready shoes forgo the AJ1’s standard lacing system for an extra-high construction, complete with two large racing-style straps. An asymmetrical textured leather appears on the throat, and a new outsole design with a more pronounced tread pattern adds further to the race-ready look. A grey leather patch on the left shoe is a possible nod to the kick guard present on most motorcycle boots, and a racing-style 23 patch hits the tongue for a speedy embellishment. Enjoy a first look at the track-ready shoes above, and stay tuned for updates on a release as they’re available.
