Heritage Italian sportswear brand Ellesse has stormed back onto the scene in 2019, invigorating the market with their classic athletic style, and now they’re calling upon their long-time friends at Packer for a little assistance in reviving the classic Piazza OG. Shoe and store have a lot of history, as during the ’80s when Packer was based in Yonkers, NY, the Ellesse Piazza was one of the most lauded silhouettes on their expansive shelves. Now, they’re bringing it back again with all the original detailing that made it so popular in the first place completely intact. Equal parts elegant and athletic, the Piazza OG boasts a 5/8 cut upper that’s constructed of white mesh and tan suede, while a grey heel piece features a colorful brand embellishment and a text logo is present on the medial quarter overlay. This true-to-the-OG remake even delights store owner Mike Packer, who describes it as his personal “white whale.” It’ll release on August 23rd for $120 USD, exclusively at Packer’s “Cafe Ellesse” pop-up space in NYC’s Refinery Hotel, which promises a healthy dose of old-school Italian New York nostalgia. Enjoy a gallery of images below, and be sure to stop by and secure the shoes/check the instillation if you’re based in the Big Apple.
