Since mid-2018, Nike’s Sport Changes Everything initiative was focused one on direction – encouraging activity for adults, kids, the able-bodied, and the physically challenged. One of its most vocal ambassadors is WNBA Champion and two-time MVP Elena Delle Donne, whose relationship with her big sis Lizzie has fueled her success in the pro ranks as well as her passion for speaking out on behalf of those who are faced with obstacles. Elena has made a variety of her professional choices with her sister in mind; distance is one aspect that she considers, while her imprint at Nike has led to the creation of the Air Zoom UNVRS – the first Flyease basketball shoe build from the ground up.
In Nike’s latest “Carry Me” meaning, Elena reveals that while she may be physically carrying her older sibling, the larger effect is actually the opposite. Due to Lizzie being blind and deaf, the two sisters rely heavily on touch to communicate, but it’s the non-physical messaging – perseverance and unconditional love – that pushed the hoops star towards greatness. See the full video below, which will also air during the three Thanksgiving NFL games, the Thunder/Pelicans game on November 19th, and throughout the month of December. The Nike Zoom UNVRS Flyease basketball shoe will officially release on Friday, November 29th on Nike.com in two colorways.
