Collaborations are what seem to garner the most attention these days, especially within the world of sneakers, and if there’s one brand that’s pushing the tempo on that front this Spring/Summer season, it’s Vans. Since last month, they’ve ramped up their partnerships even further taking on projects with the likes of National Geopgrahic, No Comply, and Kenzo. And to close out the month of June, the Anaheim-based skatewear imrpint is moving right along by tapping NEIGHBORHOOD and artist Mister Cartoon for a two-pronged Vans Vault capsule.
First on the Javier is the all-black Old Skool 36 DX. The shoes directly nod to the each party as the toe boxes split between the “Tokyo” and “Los Angeles” hits spelled out in fancy calligraphy, while the heels skool with “Uncle Toon’s Mart” and by NEIGHBORHOOD” embroidery. Its release sibling — the Authentic 44 DX — keeps its greyscale theme consistent, but takes a different approach design-wise, as its uppers are wrapped with all-over Chicano-inspired of tattoo-like characters. Each pair’s footbeds usher in more black and white illustrations of the LA-based artist to further emphasize its motif. Both pairs are set to release on June 25th, so check out a detailed look here below while you wait on their arrival.
