adidas Yeezy 500
Though it has lost a bit of momentum in the past few months, the adidas Yeezy 500 remains one of the most significant in the brand’s product line. Released back in 2018 at a retail of $200 USD, the 500 ushered in something unique, a subversion of the imprint’s current formula. Instead of the typical Primeknit constructions, it arrived composed of luxurious suede materials, mesh underlays, and cushioning adiPrene foam. And ever since its original “Blush” colorway, the model has continued to expand on that very upper with more than a few different palettes.
But despite lasting for now over two years, the silhouette has never strayed too far away from its original design. Its colorways, while somewhat distinct in their own right, only ever relied on the same few tones — the schemes seemingly reverting back to an established comfort zone. Attested by the “Salt” and “Bone White,” the 500 was very obviously and shamelessly grounded in earth tones, but after much of the same, the Three Stripes began to experiment, albeit by a small margin.
Adidas Originals Her Court W “Stone” ushered in some new nylon fabrics, applying them to the base in lieu of the more breathable mesh panels. This gave the profile an accentuated look, which better suited the model’s chunky design. Its scheme, which was tinged in a slight yellow, was without one of the more colorful, though it lacked the vibrancy of the “Soft Vision” that arrived the month prior. adidas then introduced the next chapter for the Yeezy 500: a much more imposing high-top version that seemed to reference the Yeezy Desert Boot in design. The “Slate” colorway was the first to arrive late 2019, with the more recent “Tyrian” YEEZY Quantum FLAORA likely short for Flash Orange.
