No, it’s not an upstart company; Li-Ning has been one of the biggest athletic outfitters of China for quite some time. Li-Ning officially launched their first retail space in the states in Portland, Oregon, which is also home to a big-name sports apparel conglomerate (um, Nike?). As they say, “keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer”. Li-Ning definitely has Nike Basketball in its sights, and setting up shop in their backyard is a sure-fire way to grab the attention of the competition.
