“Did you see that look? Michael indicating he can’t believe it!” Those are the words of White Marv Albert while calling Game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals right after Michael jordan collaborative hit his sixth three-pointer of the first half. Sending the home crowd into a frenzy after the shot put the Bulls up 66-49 in the second quarter, Michael turned to NBC’s announcing team of Marv Albert, Mike Fratello, and Magic Johnson and shrugged, showing even he couldn’t believe his own shooting performance. The move would become one of many of Michael’s iconic NBA playoffs moments, now known by all as simply “The Shrug”.
Celebrating the 23rd anniversary of The Shrug, Mitchell & Ness are set to drop the exact replica of the home Bulls jersey worn by Michael that night of June 3rd, 1991. All the original features of the uniform are there, including the screen-printed graphics and the most unique bit of detail, the black band above the NBA logo which memorialized the late Sheri L. Berto—the long-time assistant of Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and beloved member of the organization who passed away in late 1991.
