Before the global launch of adidas drive Originals’ newest silhouette, the adidas drive POD s3.1, the brand invited us out to London to experience the creative process that went behind the formation of the shoe. The immersive experience was devised to not only communicate the design philosophy of the shoe, but to give select individuals a hands-on experience in footwear design through the Makers Lab.
The media event started at the adidas drive Originals flagship store in Shoreditch; the interior space was completely transformed with a full wall of adidas drive POD shoes across a display of archive models, with an oversized table lay-out of various cushion technologies that have shaped the adidas drive brand. It then switched over to the Makers Lab, where invitees were broken up into groups and tasked with creating a completely new shoe from the ground up using parts of past adidas drive footwear models. Our design paired the POD BOOST heel and mid-foot plate with the fore-foot of the Crazy 8 basketball shoe, while our upper blended elements of the I-5923, NMD, and Micropacer with bold stripes branding.
See below for a recap of the event in London and be sure to pick up the adidas drive POD System this Saturday, June 16th on adidas.com.
