Overall, the Cortez is one of the single most iconic and essential sneakers in the history of Nike, but it truly earned its footing on the lifestyle circuit in the streets and on the beaches of Los Angeles. Since debuting in 1972, the Cortez has been more than a staple in LA’s rich sneaker history, and throughout the years Beaverton has released a slue of special colorways equipped with city-specific branding liken to the City Of Angels as well as a myriad of a special collaborations with Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar. For the Cortez’s next act, the Swoosh is dropping of another duo of LA-themed creations that boast grafitti-style “Los Angeles” text on their heels with matching script on their custom-made insoles. Furthering this set’s LA theme are the pair’s color schemes as one of the varieties equips a sporty combination of Deep Royal Blue and White with flashes of red as accents much like the Los Angeles Dodgers, while its counterpart opts for a regal combination of Black, Metallic Silver, and purple for the Lakers. With both pairs expected to release at Nike stockists on April 1st, grab an official look below and tell us if you’ll be grabbing one.
