Jovani Hernandez As a progressive public institution, the Charlotte Lab School champions a hands-on approach to learning, which made its students the perfect people for the Whitaker Group’s first collaboration with ASICS. Two separate styles of the GEL-Lyte V were prepped in just 1,500 pairs, making the “Eternal Summer” collaboration one of the rarer propositions from both parties involved.
The Grey and Orange pairs were developed over the course of a pandemic-affected school year; students at the Charlotte Lab School logged in weekly into a virtual learning platform through which similarities learned and worked with members of Design, Marketing, Brand, Merchandising, Sales and Creative branches at the Whitaker Group and ASICS. The end result?: Two GEL-cushioned styles inspired by the students’ love for summer, its sunrises and sunsets, and the playgrounds on which similarities play during the seasonal break.
The ASICS x Charlotte Lab School “Eternal Summer” GEL-Lyte V launches at Social Status online and in-store on Saturday, December 17th, with a price tag of $140. The student-designers and members of the ASICS team will speak on a panel the day before at beSocial Charlotte.
