Cecilie Bahnsen’s ASICS GT-2160s Will See A Wider Release On July 19th

Cecilie Bahnsen is no stranger to ASICS, as the Japanese footwear brand previously commissioned the Copenhagen-based designer for what are arguably some of the most elusive sneaker releases of the last year. Her newest collaborative project — which lends a sense femininity to the GT-2160 — caused equivalent hysteria upon its debut on Bahnsen’s webstore, which greeted many eager customers with two painful words: “sold out.”

Fortunate for fans of the eponymous label, both styles of the Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS GT-2160 will be seeing a wider release via ASICS.com and select retailers later this month.

Echoing the design language of her past efforts with the brand, Cecilie Bahnsen’s take on the ASICS GT-2160 transforms the athletic sneaker into something more akin to a pair of Mary Janes. Slightly pared down, the model forgoes a tongue and traditional lace unit in favor of a floral-inspired strap and a set of shorten strings. Elsewhere, mesh inserts are replaced with a translucent, pattern-covered synthetic, whose finish contrasts the colorways’ respective black patent and silver metallic construction.
