Launched in 1985 alongside the Nike Dunk, the “Be True To Your School” campaign birthed both varsity-style two-toned color blockings and the first team Nike basketball shoe. Nearly 40 years later, the Beaverton brand is executing a timely reimagining of the mid-80s collection, this time centered on celebrating girls in sport.
Introduced via the Air More Uptempo, the mid-90s basketball tooling is stricken with a pitch-dark dominance as jet-black tumbled leather builds out both the sidewalls and tongue construction. Further gloomy color matches are adhered to the elastic straps, the plastic lace toggles and the duo of nylon pull tabs. Elsewhere, the pebble grain leather AIR letters are cast in a vibrant mandarin orange finish alongside the heel’s Air Max cushioning system and Jordan swoosh. What’s more, the aforementioned graffiti-style lettering is illuminated through a thin white trim while further crisp white contrasts Textile the laces, tongue tab and sole unit underfoot.
Based on the 2024 Roman numeral description along the right insole collection logo, the grade school-exclusive nike dunk high premium sb mens zebra “Be True To Her School” is expected to release next year. In the meantime, the pair can be seen in official imagery below.
In other news from the Beaverton brand, the Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 “Día De Muertos” releases on October 21st.
