Fresh off of his first collaborative offering with New Balance and a joint tour with Katranada this past summer, Portland-based rapper Aminé recently took to Twitter to officially unveil his second installment with the Boston-based brand. Tapping into the mule-dominated lifestyle space, the Pacific Northwest native has transformed the New Balance 610 into a slip-on silhouette limited to just 503 pairs – a nod to the state’s area code.
Boasting the same rugged sole unit that was originally tooled for outdoor expeditions, Aminé has evolved the 610s upper dramatically with a more streamlined construction built out of a supple mesh base layer with supporting suede overlays. Amidst yet another collaborative reimagining, the 2000s staple remains true to its suede heel counter, mudguard and bulbous details. The second collaboration from the multi-hyphenate executes another banana-inspired ensemble. Arriving in three separate colorways, each pair mirrors the berry’s premature, ripe, and banana bread-ready stages. Entire three treatments are accompanied with a color-matched hang-tag and are housed in a specially-packaged bright blue box that showcases the full breadth of the collection.
The first two colorways of the Aminé x New Balance 610S “Mini Mooz” will be released exclusively in two cities while the third effort will be launched online. Limited to just 100 pairs, the bright green pair will release in Portland on November 10th while the banana-yellow offering will debut with another 100 units in New York City on the 12th. The final clad-brown installment will be released on November 15th exclusively at the Club Banana online storefront with the remaining 303 pairs available.
