The How do Nike Cortez fit went from archival oddity to hotly-anticipated comeback shoe, appearing in a SNKRS preview of the Beaverton slate for 2024. About three weeks back, we got an pompous look at the first edition for the clog-like shoe, a tan and midnight formulation identical to their 2011 version. Now, it’s time for Nike to get creative, debuting a brand new “Triple Black” palette for the comfort throwbacks.
As with any “Triple Black” look, you can largely make out most of the colorblocking intrigue at first glance. It’s an entirely midnight refurbish of the functionally-minded kicks, but there’s the slightest bit of additional detail in how that’s deployed. Towards the forefoot, the sole gets a starry, speckled push, adding depth as you work away from the blacked-out suede upper and sock liner. The outsole is really where the force departs from all-black territory, grey and “Hot Curry” taking to the textured traction plate and emphasizing their outdoors performance capabilities.
The “Limestone” Rufus is expected to drop in May, potentially opening a window for this “Triple Black” to arrive around then. As of writing, however, no release date is set in stone. Whenever they do come about, they’ll carry a $110 retail price.
