Salomon is once again digging into its archival bag by bringing back another Y2K-era model. In the wake of the newly re-introduced Salomon Snowclog, the French mountaineering brand is adding to its highly successful “XT” series by reviving the XT-Whisper.
The XT-Whisper was conceived as a women’s version of the XT-Hawk, first releasing at the turn of the century in 2000. While the two trail runners fulfill the same purpose, the Whisper intends to deliver a less masculine aesthetic with rounded overlays as opposed to the sharp panels Salomon is well known by. The model is now set to return in unisex sizes and with minor technical upgrades, keeping up with outdoor shoe standards while also appealing to lifestyle-focused buyers riding the “gorpcore” wave.
Salomon plans to fully unleash the XT-Whisper during the Spring 2025 shopping season, but they’re getting the party started early with a “Treetop” colorway on December 10th, 2024. Budget for an MSRP of $140 if you’re considering gore-tex out a pair.
