For years now, the walls between luxury and sneakers have rapidly begun to crumble, as names like Dior and Louis Vuitton have collaborated with Nike to quite the roaring applause. And soon, the Swoosh will be enlisting the help of yet another name in high fashion: the ever-beloved Simon Porte Jacquemus.
Though well-known for creating fashionably tiny leather accessories, Jacquemus also dabbles often in sportswear-inspired pieces, such as hiking boots and even scuba gear. So a Neon with Nike seems like an adequate fit, especially considering that the designer manifested the collaboration, as he told Vogue “I always said to myself, If one day I do a collaboration, it will be with Nike.”
Though not much has surfaced from the collection other than a handful of teaser imagery, we have caught quick glimpses of upcoming standouts as well as written details from Jacquemus himself. There will be a total of 15 pieces, which marry the designer’s neutral-toned womenswear with Nike’s technical innovations. Pleated skirts, simple, bodycon dresses, and the like are among the selection, all of which may contrast the more rugged Humara sneaker, which has apparently been modified with a tiny, elegant Swoosh.
So far, only very few images have been shared of the upcoming collection, most of which only express the garments’ and shoes’ overall inspiration. More information and imagery should surface closer to the release on June 28th.
