Few in fashion explore identity, sexuality, and race quite like Grace Wales Bonner, whose eponymous label was founded soon after her graduation from Central Saint Martins in 2014. Bonner’s catalog of work, which has earned many an accolade in the past few years, very quickly caught the attention of the brand with the Three Stripes, and the two have since released three season’s worth of apparel and footwear.
Drawing from adidas’ vast archive once again, Wales Bonner will soon debut their fourth collaborative collection, which blends together ’70s and ’80s influences. This inspiration is especially evident in the clothing — from the jacquard knitwear to the tracksuits — as it’s likened to the era by way of bold colors and retro fits.
The footwear sees the return of a previously-used classic, the Samba, which is dressed here in two bold colorways: one opts for a red-dominant look, while its counterpart layers green accents atop a white base. And besides their difference in color, the two share certain details, such as the houndstooth-patterned laces and serged heel tab. Additionally, the label has prepared two originals of Country Shoes that proffer reserved yet luxurious construction.
For a look at the entire capsule, see below. The Country Shoes and apparel will be available tomorrow, June 4th; a firm release date for the two Sambas, however, has not yet been shared.
