Chitose Abe and her sacai imprint have had a relatively quiet last couple of years, but they’ve been working on handfuls of in-line and collaborative projects. Having unveiled a Nike Air Footscape girls during Paris Fashion Week in January, the Japanese team is rumored to also have a woven Nike Waffle shoe on the way.
Previously seen in white and grey, the unnamed (and unconfirmed) silhouette has recently emerged in a multi-color ensemble. Different fabrics interlock across the upper, donning shades of yellow, red, blue, and green. Layered tongues reprise their role, nodding to sacai’s past work with the Swoosh; a stacked midsole underfoot follows suit. Full prints of the woven intent aren’t known, but the waffle outsole connects Abe’s work to Nike’s origins. All together, the unreleased sacai x Nike Waffle further expands both parties’ legacies.
Enjoy an extremely early look at the pair ahead, while you wait for official Nike SNKRS launch prints.
