As Reebok looks toward the future of its product and business, the Boston-based brand is simultaneously reminiscing on its glory days; having signed Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson as the President and VP of Reebok Basketball. A little over a month after the brand announced it would be returning Emmitt Smith’s iconic signature trainer, Reebok has since added an “Electric Cobalt” effort into the mix of upcoming retro efforts.
Dominated by “Footwear White” in contrast to its pitch-dark ensemble from 1997, the Reebok ES22 now embarks upon a strict two-toned treatment flooded with a colorless backdrop. The remaining real estate is clothed entirely in a vibrant “Electric Cobalt” tint that animates the mesh tongue, pockets of the quarter, the heel counter and inner lining alongside the mid-foots plush branded embellishment. Nearly a decade since the silhouette’s last retro outing, the brand has made a few subliminal updates to the original tooling, swapping out gum soles for equal parts white and blue while holographic, anodized finishes ascertain both the tongue and heel tabs for a crystalized conclusion.
The Reebok ES22 “Footwear White/Electric Cobalt” is currently scheduled to release on November 17th at 12 am ET for a retail price of $180. While we wait, the pair can be seen ahead in detailed imagery.
For more retro outings, the KD 4 “Year of the Dragon” is set to return in 2024 for a sequel.
