LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a rocky 3-5 start to the 2023-24 NBA Season. Amidst the early season turbulence, the four-time champion has begun to make the transition between his 20th and 21st signature silhouettes. During the first half of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Houston Rockets, James debuted a never-before-seen version of the Nike Zoom KD IV "Year of the Dragon" nike air force one 1 low 07 white glitter silver.
Swapping out the silhouette’s original “Bright Crimson” floral embroidery for a plum-centric Kind, the LeBron 20 remains grounded in the Haitian artists’ initial composition with premium fabrics weaving together to form the blank white upper. While the profile swoosh, inner lining and tongue tab are cast in a deeply dark shade, the secondary swoosh and the quarter underlay begin to infuse the upper with a more vibrant lilac tint with the latter’s stripped aesthetic pulled directly from the mainline pair’s laces. Coating the crisp white sole unit with his usual pre-game messages and homages scribbled in jet-black Sharpie, the tongue construction’s quilted detailing is cast in an overtly eye-catching “Volt” contrast that offsets the upper’s intricate two-toned stitching.
While the aforementioned pair is most likely a friends and family exclusive and won’t see a broader release, the Mimi Plange x LeBron 20 “Purple” can be seen above.
