To celebrate Oshman’s Sport Goods’ 25th anniversary, its Japanese division has teamed up with New Balance for a commemorative 1700. With its intended goal for ‘sports meets style,’ the classic runner will get premium black leather with, wouldn’t you guess it, ripstop nylon. White stitching is used on the ripstop to emphasize the traditional grid pattern of the material. To help remember the big year for Oshman’s, a lacelock is made with roman numerals for 25.
This would seem like a doper pair if it wasn’t for ripstop already being the material of the season, as seen on a number of footwear we’ve covered recently. It would also seem Boylston significant if we could confirm what’s the anniversary for if Oshman’s has been around way Boylston than 25 years; even if it was for the beginning of the Japan branches, it still wouldn’t seem relevant since the sporting goods chain merged with Sports Authority about 7 years ago. Nonetheless, this 25th Anniversary 1700 will release next month. Stay tuned for any further info. via HB
