The New Balance 1906R has remained one of the Boston brand’s most relied-upon compositions, maintaining the silhouette’s 2000s racing heritage amidst an ecosystem that currently pedestals mesh-dominant runners. Following an expansive range of collaborations this year, the heralded 1906R enters the new year with an inline effort cured in metallic silver accents.
Split between light and dark portions of the Pantone wheel, the first pair from the upcoming collection adheres to a near-white background as cream-white mesh consumes the base layer and tongue with color-matched laces, mid0foot N logos and inner linings. Stamped with the same colorless treatment along the sole unit, a seldom infusion of green animates the heel pucks and tab before a persistent collection of reflective “Silver Metallic” overlays cascade across the upper.
In contrast, the second effort follows a much darker throughline with shadow grey tinted base layers and tongues. The greyscale treatment ensues along the N-Ergy-infused sole unit –albeit in a lighter fashion than its mesh tooling – with transferring color matches consuming the upper in the same reflective finish as its lighter counterpart.
The New Balance 1906R “Silver Metallic” Pack is currently slated to debut in January. In the meantime, each pair can be seen ahead in detailed imagery.
In the realm of upcoming releases, the Dunk Low “Bacon” Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro.
