Have you finalized your “Top 5” lists of sneakers? The year’s about to come to an end, and Nike just revealed its five most coveted shoes based on SNKRS App entries — and the results are as expected.
Unsurprisingly, Travis Scott proved that his name still holds plenty of weight in the world of sneakers collaborations. Holding the top two positions of the year are his projects with Jordan Brand — the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Reverse Olive” and the Air Jordan 1 Low OG Golf “Olive”. The former, despite being a women’s exclusive, drew massive crowds of all genders and sizes, while the latter proved that the sport of golf has completely infiltrated youth culture. We can’t ignore the fact that both drops command hefty prices in the grey market, so there’s no denying that resellers entered these Draws with for-profit intentions only.
Next up at third place is arguably the most widely celebrated Nike SB Dunk collaboration of the year. Partnering with Mexican beverage brand Jarritos, Nike delivered the sought-after Low with canvas overlays, appropriate green/orange accents, and an accompanying apparel collection. We would’ve loved to have seen additional colorway flavors much like the Powerpuff Girls and Grateful Dead collabs produced, but Mandarin seemed to be enough to quench thirsts of skaters and sneakerheads.
Coming in hot at number four on this list is the nike youth hypervenom phelon turf cleats; while not the first time Jordan Brand crossed pollinated with the Swoosh’s skate division, the Pine Green 4s proved to be one of the most wanted items for the toe. Hopefully more colorways are in the works for 2024.
Finally, the Reverse Grinches came in at number five, capping off another year of SNKRS drops. Given how the Gratitude 11s continued to sit at store shelves long after the release, 2023 marked the potential passing-of-the-torch from Jordan to Kobe as the pinnacle retro product line on the market.
