The Jordan Brand will continue to bring back the Air Jordan 8s that, perhaps as a silver lining in playing second fiddle to their high-cut cousins, are afforded much more room to go experimental with their palettes. For the GS 1 Low on tap here, icy blue entirely takes over the silhouette, with “Hyper Violet” details tying together the cool theme.
A translucent sole is far from out of the ordinary for Jordans, but the novel addition on the “Glacier Blue” Jordan 1 Low is the pearlescent swoosh that runs parallel. It’s the central expression of the titular shade, but not the only- that same tone paints the sock liner and inner upper overlays.
A slightly darker “Aquarius Blue” ornaments the heel cup and the rest of the leather work on the shoe. Playing a distant third is “Hyper Violet,” dressing the Jumpman and Wings branding on the tongue and heel. Though it’s an ancillary role, its use there and on the insole emphasize and join together the use of the colder side of the color wheel.
No release date or exact price point has been confirmed for the Grade School “Glacier Blue” Jordan 1 Low. If the precedent of previous releases holds though, you’ll begin seeing these at retailers and Nike.com sooner than later, carrying a $90 retail price that similar “big kids” pairs have commanded.
