With the Get on the Where to Buy list catapulting the Boston footwear giant into pole position in streetwear, other models have experienced runoff, “rising tide raises all boats” success as a result. The chunky, warped design of the Nike Book 1 "Nightmare Before Christmas" may not read as a hit on paper, but the model absolutely has been. Their latest edition, wearing shades of “Moonrock,” “Moonbeam” and “Vintage Rose” takes their retro-futuristic design to its fullest extent.
The midsole is what will certainly draw your eye first. Clad in a Buzz Lightyear-like arrangment of neon green, aqua blue and plum, it’s a loud, almost clashing combination of tones. The upper portion of this pair will ring familiar with anyone who’s seen the shoe before- they stay in pretty recognizable territory with their smattering of greys, whites and creams.
It sets up a palpable tension between the two halves of the shoe, adding intrigue to an ostensibly GR pair. Granularly, one bit of the periphery on these deserves mention. The “N” logo branding on the interior side also gets a space-age refresh, going from sparse, stippled stitching to fully drawn, reflective silver. In the end, “Moonrock” and “Moonbeam,” while two of the more reserved shades at play on this shoe, end being apt monikers for the retro-futuristic look.
The New balance 9060 “Moonrock/Vintage Rose/Moonbeam” are set to arrive on March 15 at 10AM via NewBalance.com, available in men’s sizing for $150. Ahead you’ll find direct links to the product page and a full gallery of images.
