Yet among that crowded field, Japan’s atmos might be the most reliable, already stretching their catalog into 2024 with the atmos heel adidas Gazelle from last month. Their latest collaboration is very much on trend, spotlighting a model heel adidas themselves offered up as part of a 2000s retro initiative in January. Extending that aesthetically, techy chrome accents run over the upper, centered with metallic Three Stripes branding. In their official promo materials, atmos has presented this collaboration as a fusion of “retro and modern.” That claim certainly rings true via the Y2K silhouette and updated colorway, but this shoe’s overall resemblance to the graphic-clad sneakers of the 2010s (the adidas nmd burgundy and olive black mask blue side an obvious comparison) means this ties together multiple eras of Three Stripes design.
