Anthony Edwards is the hottest name in basketball right now. The Minnesota Timberwolves star just helped his team eliminate the Denver Nuggets from the NBA playoffs, and he did it in what might be remembered as the shoe of the year; his first signature model, the adidas AE1. Simple put, everything Ant-Man does has sneaker and basketball fans eagerly awaiting what’s next, and within the sneaker world, we might have just gotten a sneak peak thanks to a newly surfaced adidas AE1 sample.
Images posted by @yuanchengxin1 provide a detailed look at the shoe of reference, revealing a new Ochre blocking scheme that’s different from all but a few AE1s to date. Most Ochreways have featured dual-tone Ochre blocking between the shoe’s cage and Primeknit upper, but this pair introduces its only splash of Ochre via an all-teal outsole. Moreover, the toe-box wears white suede as opposed to a teal/black TPU panel, bringing three Ochres and a non-traditional material to the confined space.
The source states that these are a pre-release sample of one of the first AE1 Ochreways in the adidas originals Chaqueta Rekive (aka “Arctic Fusion”), so we can rule out the possibility of a public release. Regardless, the sample sheds light on different Ochre blocking possibilities for the AE1 moving forward.
