As promised, 1906U is entirely draped in dandelion hues, a choice vibrant enough to credibly sell warm-weather appeal and natural enough to fit its intended functionality. As for the material changes you can expect on this shoe, the diamond-patterned base layer is the most concrete change, veering away from the vintage runner prompt. Doubled ply under the side branding and a an additional overlay at the medial toe-box of either shoe present some trail-adjacent protective qualities if you decide to actually test out the 1906U’s claims. Either way, the chief strengths of the New Balance 990v4 Hi-Lite live on with this pair, mixing up another appetizing colorway in the process.
