German-born retailer Solebox has been steadily spreading its wings across Europe, cutting the tape on locations in Barcelona, Brussels, Netherlands and Vienna in its two decades of operations. The latest locale to earn a location is Paris, set to open its doors on July 19th as the 7th brick-and-mortar store in the Solebox canon. To celebrate, the imprint enlisted adidas, a frequent collaborator over its history, for a limited, premium collaboration on the adidas Handball Spezial.
The Spezial’s overseas popularity has been well-documented by both us and the footwear culture as a whole, so its application for this purpose is only logical. However, the palette chosen may require a bit more explanation. Though the white & gum foundation is easily digestible for those familiar with the model’s history, the sunny Three Stripes and heel cup sections reference the Paris stores’ exterior facade, adorned in the same canary yellow shade you see here. In typical collab fashion, co-branded detailing rounds out an overall simplistic, cheap design; golden spellout cursive sits above the rearmost stripe and the store’s address is pasted on the insole.
The Solebox adidas Handball Spezial will be an in-store exclusive, with pre-orders available on July 20th and 21st. Retail pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but keep an eye on the @solebox Instagram account for updated details if you’ll be swinging by the Paris location to secure your pair.
