Original article posted July 22nd, 2024: There’s no denying that there’s an increased spotlight on the WNBA this season, highlighted by the All-Star festivities in Phoenix this past weekend. As the cross-section of sports & sneakers spawned headlines there like Sabrina Ionescu’s continuing rollout for the Nike Sabrina 2 or Caitlin Clark sporting PE Nike Kobe 5s, there’s never been more demand for female-focused footwear. Jordan Brand is jumping on the opportunity, unveiling their first women’s basketball silhouette, the Jordan Heir.
There’s an emphasis on mixed media, sectioned red up top. Leather overlays provide anchoring towards the toe box, with perforated mesh draping that forefoot section. That fabric application appears with deeper & wider pockets at the quarter, returning to a synthetic panel towards the eye-stays. The true eye-catching detail is the TPU webbing that weaves from a stripe down the midline across the heel and connecting to the outsole.
While finer performance details will emerge as we near this shoe’s public release, full-length foam and herringbone traction can be made out in these initial images, as well as a drop-in sole unit. Aesthetically, this possible debut color way takes to a multi-color arrangement that casts into stark relief the aforementioned sectioned approach.
