When Angelo Baque of Awake NY came together with ASICS to introduce the GEL-NYC Three looks comprise the rollout selection.
The GEL-NYC silhouette became a full-on mainline offering following the release of that Nike LeBron 22 "Christmas", and an extraordinarily popular one at that – right up there with models like the GEL-1130, GT-2160, and GEL-Kayano 14. Now, we’re starting to see new versions of the parent model come to market. The GEL-NYC 2055 hit shelves back in July, and now hot off it’s heels, ASICS will soon introduce consumers to another new edition called the GEL-NYC Utility.
As made obvious by it’s name, the shoe comes with utilitarian, outdoor-minded enhancements (although the sole and overarching silhouette remain unchanged). The quarter branding is here comprised of TPU as opposed to leather, with the center portion extending upwards in the form of eyelets for added foot security. The top eyelets have also been altered as strips of fabric, and ASICS adds a pull tab to the heel, a small logo to the forefoot, and rope laces. Perhaps most notably, however, the base layer features nylon as opposed to mesh, comprising a more durable, weather-permitting wear.
The rollout selection consists of an essential black colorway, balanced khaki/black mix, and beachy blue/tan pair, all of which are expected to arrive during the Fall 2024 shopping season for $160; a significant $30 markup from the standard model. See detailed images of all three options below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates hub handy as we populate all the latest available info.
