Launched in late 2019 in collaboration with gorp-core maven Snow Peak, the New Balance Niobium Concept series has handled outdoor landscapes with ease and style with its modular, utility-grade build. Now in its second chapter (the Concept 2 was more of an outdoor sandal-sneaker), New Balance’s IYKYK model is back for more.
Here’s a refresher: the Niobium Concept 3 is built like a 2-in-1 shoe. Inside this well protected exterior is a snow boot that can be worn on its own (these images don’t reveal that, but you can get a closer look here). The black pair appears to house a dark burgundy interior, whereas the olive green sees a blue option. Both pairs utilize the eVent Waterproof exterior — a permeable and waterproof membrane/textile that commonly found in true gorp gear. And with heights up to the mid-shin, the Niobium Concept 3 has enough coverage to keep your pedals warm and dry.
These two upcoming colorways are expected to release in December 2024 with an MSRP of $200 (or around that). They’ll be available on New Balance online and select retailers across the sphere.
