The Nike Air Cross Trainer IV Low was introduced in 1991 in several racer colorways – one of which was this White/Infrared-Deep Purple pair you see here. Considered to be a ‘Lite’ version of the Nike Air Trainer E Low, which featured a visible Air Unit via a triangular window, the Air Cross Trainer IV Low features lightweight netting material on the upper with an aggressive midsole design, accentuated by the vibrant Infrared colorway. The release of the Air Cross Trainer IV Low came at the height of Nike Trainer popularity; also releasing in 1991 was the Nike Air Trainer Max ’91 as well as the Air Trainer TW Lite I and II. Unfortunately the Air Cross Trainer IV Low was one of the last Cross Trainer Low releases, and by the mid-90’s the Nike Trainer line was placed on the backburner in favor of other athletic designs – particularly in basketball and running.
