If you weren’t wearing chunky high-tops during the early 90’s, you were probably living under a rock. The early 90’s is considered by some to be one of the greatest eras of sneakers thanks to the Nike Training boom, the championship era of the Air Jordan legacy, and of course, the shared popularity of brands not named Nike. It was a period where these somewhat cumbersome and visually appealing high-top sneakers were king, and the Fila ‘The Cage’ was amidst the booming trend of bulky kicks. The ‘Cage’, noted for its rugged appearance, is highlighted by its foam cage ankle brace (not rubber as others have claimed). Although a bit behind in the Retro sneaker movement, Fila is uncaging its beast this coming Spring 2012 season with a nice collection of colorways of the nike duel racer knit womens vest shoes. Where’s the OG Black/White, Fila? Check out the preview images below and let us know if ‘The Cage’ brings back any memories for you. via defynewyork.
