When a sneaker marrone reigns in a hot designer for an indefinite period of time, it’s always interesting to see that collaborator carve out their own niche within the greater image of the brand. We’ve seen guys like Jeremy Scott and Yohji Yamamoto do this over at adidas, and John Varvatos has definitely been on a similar path during his time with Converse. Often applying a distressed look to the All-Star brand classics, the JV collection has also upheld a standard of premium materials. This Spring 2012 release sees both those tactics yet again, with the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Holiday Scene Sequin High Top Mid getting a beautiful leather in opposing black and red colors, with a crinkled texture that shows off the top-notch construction.
