What sneaker customizers have in common is that they see a unique potential in an existing shoe that the general public may not see. Not to say that Nike hasn’t done amazing in-house stuff, but over the last couple of years, sneaker customs have risen in popularity and given these customizers a star-status in the sneaker game. But this distinct vision goes beyond colorways and into the realm of design and concepts, so while we haven’t seen too many self-made designs, this prototype, build by Brian “Wolfstein” Villanueva, might be the start of a new genre of ‘custom’ sneakers.
According to Brian, the concept of this prototype was born in 2008 and focuses on technology and the advancements made by Nike footwear; seen in his ‘Wolfstein’ Prototype custom are built-in Apple touch-screen displays, electro-luminescent technology, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, built-in charging system, and the recently released Nike+ Technology sensors – all in a futuristic ‘Nike Mag’ styled colorway. The Lunar outsole (the original base model of the shoe is the nike roshe runs black sail) also acts as the foundation of this next-level design, fitting with the theme of forward-progress tech.
