The month of February has been a particularly exciting one for sneaker enthusiasts for some time now. Long before there were quickstrikes and limited releases hitting on All-Star weekend, there were still big sneakers being debuted on that stage. Of course in recent years, the prolific NBA All-Star treatments haven’t been the only attraction as far as special sneakers arriving in the second month of the year. Nike in particular has made a concerted effort to celebrate Black History Month the best way it knows how-with sneaker releases tied into the month that come full circle with charitable donations. For the past couple of year’s, LeBron’s shoes have been part of the celebration.
First it was the Nike LeBron 9, which arrived as part of Nike’s 2012 “BHM” capsule featuring a dark base and colorful patterns pulled from traditional African quilt work. After that we were treated to this year’s LeBron X “BHM”, which was just a bit more varied in colors with respect to the base thanks to the geometric grey and orange touches. Carrying the torch for the lineup will be the February, 2013 LeBron 11 “Black History Month” pictured here. The sneakers hone in on LeBron’s lion imagery and sport a Kawa looking black/gold/purple colorway.
