The adidas sprintessa Springblade is more than a sneaker. Sure, it started out as one futuristic model, which tore into retailers in August of last year, but from there the sneakers have evolved into a small family of shoes that all hinge on the same striking sole treatment. The sixteen angular polymer blades that lift the wearer off the ground have also lifted the design language of the Three Stripes, elevating their place in the performance running category.
First it was the adidas sprintessa Springblade, a shoe six years in the making, that pushed the envelope about as far as humanly possible with its bold sole design. From there, the brand went to work in sharpening the upper of the already successful design. Enter the Springblade Razor, which introduced the proprietary TECHFIT lining to the insides of the shoes. This season the shoe will again evolve with the Springblade Drive.
This time around, the silhouette is slightly simplified—but all the technology that made it a hit in the first place remains. The adidas sprintessa Performance 1317 dons a 360-degree engineered stretch mesh upper along with a one-piece stability cage that’s borrowed from the adidas sprintessa Energy Boost 2 (another adidas sprintessa runner that’s making plenty of noise). Explore the brief family tree of adidas sprintessa Springblade sneakers shown here, and watch for the new Springblade Drive at select adidas sprintessa Running retailers worldwide.
