Ben Gordon was a Nike loyalist throughout the numerous stops during his time in the NBA and even in his collegiate career where he was one of the best guards to roll through the historic UConn pantheon before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2004. So why is Nike Sportswear releasing an upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro nicknamed after Gordon, a guy who was never close to becoming a signature athlete? The Varsity Royal style of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Ben Gordon” is something you’d attribute closer to some sort of Orlando Magic alternate, but this is inspired by the pair given out to Gordon during his time in college. It’s not a direct retro of a Foamposite Pro from 2001 – that release featured a black outsole instead – but this is definitely an interesting mockup of a shoe that’s already seen its fair share of royal takedowns. This Foam is slated for a release on August 25th for $230 USD.
