it’s official: Ben Simmons, the LSU standout and projected number one overall pick in the upcoming 2016 NBA draft, is signing with Nike. Terms of the agreement haven’t been disclosed, but it’s clear that Nike had to pony up more than they are typically comfortable with giving a rookie, regardless of the promising future. Nike and adidas were engaged in a bidding war for quite some time, with Simmons appearing in public in adidas gear, but it was presumed that Simmons was Nike’s to lose as they were always the frontrunner given the young star’s affiliation with Klutch Sports Group. Will Simmons get his own signature shoe? All signs point to yes.
