Jordan Brand’s Holiday releases are always some of the most sought after sneakers of that year, and 2016 looks to be no different thanks to the retro of the iconic Space Jam Jordan 11. This year’s pair takes a different route though, focusing on an early sample from 1995 that Mike wore during his second round matchup against the Orlando Magic. An updated ’45’ PE stitching on the heel will definitely stand out as the major difference, but there’s also Nike Air branding on the insole and an updated cut of the patent leather mudguard that features a contrasting white piping to match the original Air Jordan 5 Dunk On Mars release slate. The Space Jam Jordan 11s will release at retailers on December 10th for $220 USD, so you have plenty of time to try and figure out how you’ll grab a pair. SPACE JAM HISTORY
This colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Dunk On Mars was first seen in the 1995 NBA Playoffs. Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 10 throughout his comeback season, but switched to the Air Jordan 5 Dunk On Mars because he found them irresistible to wear. He first wore the white/black “Concord”, but was forced by the NBA to switch to an all-black sneaker, which ended up being the shoes we’ve come to know as the “Â Air Jordan 7 Retro TD Flint 2021s”. Fun fact: although the shoes are nicknamed “Space Jam”, they existed long before the movie came out. Below are photos of Michael Jordan wearing the shoes against the Orlando Magic in the 1995 NBA Playoffs.
