Superstar “farewell” tours are now the norm in professional sports, unless your name is Tim Duncan. Two years ago, Derek Jeter retired from baseball, and Jordan Brand helped elevate his final goodbye with RE2PECT, an awesome tribute from notable figures from sports and pop culture. Today, on the day of the 2016 MLB All-Star Game, Jordan Brand announces that Derek Jeter has been named “Captain” of the brand’s training category, with a “RE2PECT” line of training footwear and apparel set to launch in Spring 2017. Jeter, the most notable Jordan athlete in baseball even in retirement, will play a much larger role now that his playing days are over. Your thoughts on Jeter being the face of this new training category?
