Widely regarded as one of the best non-signature Jordan sneakers ever, the Jordan Jumpman Pro Strong first released in 1998 and was worn by the likes of Jordan athlete Vin Baker. Notice the the extra-high heel collar, carbon fiber plate and chunky sole? These design cues are inspired by the Air Jordan 13 flagship model, a sneaker that bears strong resemblance with the Pro Strong model. The Jumpman Pro Strong was designed to give powerful big men the comfort, protection and support that they needed to do battle in the paint. In contrast, the Pro Quick served the athlete guards of the league.
First retroed in 2010, the Jumpman Pro Strong is now available in a brand-new “Gym Red” colorway, featuring a large red panel on the lateral and medial side of the upper, offset by a black toebox, tongue and midsole. A white outsole, vertical red “Jordan” logo on the lacing system and Jumpman embroidery on the heel and toebox completes the shoe’s retro look. The “Gym Red” colorway of the Jumpman Pro Strong is available now on Nike.com.
