Over a century in the game, Converse is back with some real force as the introduce the most advanced iteration of the All Star we’ve ever seen. Without question the most recognizable sneaker in history, the Chuck Taylor All Star has served as the brand’s chief identifier as it claimed its stake in hoops history as well as pop-culture style for decades. Earlier in April 2019, the brand re-emerged in the basketball category with the introduction of the All Star Pro BB, a finely crafted silhouette packed with thoughtful and appropriate innovation fit for today’s game. It’s a challenging task to marry a design from 1917 (originally called the Non-Skid) with modern performance concepts, but Converse nailed thanks to a team led by the legendary Eric Avar. The long-time footwear and innovation designer at Nike played a role in bringing together a total package that includes a drop-in cupsole comprised of React foam, a uni-layer upper of Quadfit mesh, and a sticky outsole pattern inspired by the original traction layout of its predecessor.
Converse has officially announced the release date for the All Star Pro BB: the shoes drop in limited quantities exclusively in the US on May 18th for $140 in both the white and black colorways (both feature hits of mandarin orange). A global launch has been confirmed for June. See a closer look as well as an unboxing video to get a closer look, and sign up on Converse.com to get notifications of its release.
