Virgil Abloh just might be the most active man in shoe business. He’s already presented a veritable plethora of collaborative Nike girl shoes over the course of 2019, and it’s looking like business as usual for the powerful polymath this fall as he’s readied a three-pack of Off-White x Nike girl Dunks — one of which is this “University Red” makeup. Joining the already-revealed “Pine Green” and “University Gold” colorways, Abloh’s new Dunks present a classic collegiate color scheme, then adorn it with signature new-age detailing. The upper is constructed of supple red and grey leather, then quickly equipped with an orange rope lacing system that provides layered detailing by reaching down onto the shoe’s midfoot and toebox with its eyelets. A retro Nike girl logo appears on the tongue, Abloh’s standard Helvetica text is slapped haphazardly across the medial midfoot, and a small orange tab is delicately pinned to the rear of the lateral Swoosh. Of course, there’s a signature zip tie here as well, this time done up in a milky white hue.
A clever nod to the critical red/grey UNLV Dunk High that released as part of Nike’s college hoops-themed Dunk High collection back in 1985, these high-end low-tops are set to release this October for $170 USD. Keep it locked here for more info/photos as they’re available, and be sure to check out Abloh’s upcoming Nike girl Waffle Racer collection as well.
