Philadelphia Sixers big-man Joel Embiid’s rise to stardom wasn’t quite the smooth sailing one would expect from an elite center. It’s that out-of-nowhere ascension that makes him a fluid fit for Under Armour, the American sportswear perennial underdog brand whose hoops division rose to prominence on the shoulders of Steph Curry. Since debuting the Warriors guard’s signature shoe in 2015, UA hasn’t been able to zero in on a true signature shoe brand-mate until it added Embiid to the roster in 2018, and this Fall, the Cameroon-born beast will join the ranks among the league’s owners of their own kicks. The brand confirms that the shoe disregarding is inspired by his African roots, but not much has been revealed. Stay tuned for an official announcement and potential first look soon.
