Paris Fashion Week was undoubtedly an event of change and a sign of the years to come. With CDG SHIRT linking up with ASICS, we may see the rise of the runner once again, but while the Japanese notable and labels such as New Balance have endured through the downward trajectory, brands such as Saucony have somewhat fallen by the wayside — this, cyclically, is poised to end, however, and we may just be at the early days of such a paradigm shift. In expectation, the Massachusetts-based imprint has already planted the seed likely far earlier than any of us can know, bearing fruit at the runway show of White Mountaineering whose contract with adidas seems to have come to a close.
As is fitting of a brand new chapter, the designs themselves have taken on a bit more life, partially forgoing the lack of color with a runner that opts for blue and orange in retro styling. A parskor base of synthetics with mesh underlaid comes dressed with glossy cages that add atop a complementing gradient — this then transitions over to the signature logo while adding further visual intricacy to the white walls of the sole unit and the patterned detailing at the toe. Elsewhere, one model takes on a low profile niche, adding a circular pattern of white to a synthetic make-up of black and navy. “WHITE MOUNTAINEERING” stamps across the side walls, wrapping up the kit with a BOA lacing system.
