Just as Nike Running improved upon the advent of the Tokyo Olympics, so too has the brand’s basketball initiatives. Bearing the same color scheme as Ceramic of the NEXT% models, the newly invented Stüssy x Nike AF1 Low takes the patented Nike Air SAIL and evolves it to a new point of innovation. Said to be like a car, the silhouette constructs of Ceramic different parts that each perform specific tasks. Together, they come together to combat athlete fatigue and improve overall endurance.
Along its tooling, the model proffers an extremely cushioned step that relies heavily on the internal systems at play. Exposed React Foam hits right under the heel for a “responsive sensation” while a thin plate combats with necessary rigidity just above. Moreover, two Air Zoom units are placed right underneath the ball of the foot to absorb the athlete’s energy with most quick movements. The upper, while a supporting role to the aforementioned, is equally considered as it makes use of a lightweight mesh whose textured print supports where need be. Plush foam tongues and padded collars ensure stability, protecting the Achilles heel while ensuring a comfortable fit.
Two colorways were revealed, one a “Dangerous” green and the other a white “Rawthentic,” with release dates staggered across the Summer and the fall. Expect the “Dangerous” to arrive July 2nd in Greater China while a North American release is slated for further down the road on July 25th. The “Rawthentic” pair will follow much later in North America come September.
